  • Tectonic Plates of Africa: Understanding the African Plate & More
Africa sits on three tectonic plates:

    * The African Plate: This is the largest and most dominant plate, covering most of the continent.

    * The Somali Plate: This smaller plate is in the eastern part of Africa, along the East African Rift Valley.

    * The Arabian Plate: This plate, which is mostly under the Arabian Peninsula, forms a small part of the Horn of Africa, where the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden are located.

So, it's not just one plate, but a combination of these three!
