  • Troposphere & Stratosphere: Understanding Earth's Lowest Atmospheric Layers
The two lowest layers of the atmosphere are the troposphere and the stratosphere.

    - Troposphere: The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and is where we live. It is about 10-15 kilometers thick and contains most of the air that we breathe. The temperature in the troposphere decreases as you move upwards.

    - Stratosphere: The stratosphere is the layer of the atmosphere above the troposphere. It is about 15-50 kilometers thick and contains the ozone layer, which protects us from harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The temperature in the stratosphere increases as you move upwards.
