Alluvial soil is most extensively seen in the Northern Plains which includes Punjab, Haryana, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, etc. There they have been deposited by 3 main river systems – the Indus river system, the Ganga river system and the Brahmaputra river system.
