  • Precipitation in Polar Regions: Arctic & Antarctic Rainfall Data
Very little. The polar regions are cold and dry, with very little precipitation. The average annual precipitation in the Arctic is only about 10 centimetres, and in the Antarctic it is even less, at about 2 centimetres. Most of the precipitation in the polar regions falls as snow, which can accumulate over time to form glaciers.
