  • Metal Conductivity: Understanding Conductors vs. Insulators
    A metal is a conductor.

    Here's why:

    * Conductors allow electricity to flow easily through them. This is because they have free electrons that can move around.

    * Metals have a unique atomic structure where their outermost electrons are loosely bound to the atoms. This allows these electrons to move freely throughout the metal, creating a "sea of electrons."

When a voltage is applied to a metal, these free electrons can easily move, creating an electric current.
