  • Electroscope Charging: Understanding Negative Charge & Positive Induction
It is impossible for a negatively charged rod to charge an electroscope positively through direct contact. When a negatively charged rod comes in contact with the knob of an uncharged electroscope, it will transfer some of its negative charge to the electroscope, causing it to become negatively charged as well.
