  • Understanding the Impact of Increased Resistance on Electrical Circuits
    If the resistance in a circuit is increased, the current flowing through the circuit will decrease.

    This is because the current in a circuit is inversely proportional to the resistance, meaning that as the resistance increases, the current decreases.

    According to Ohm's law, which states that the current (I) flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the voltage (V) applied across the conductor and inversely proportional to the resistance (R) of the conductor:

    I = V / R

    or V = I * R.

    Increasing the resistance (R) while keeping the voltage (V) constant will cause the current (I) to decrease. When the resistance increases, it becomes more difficult for the electrons to flow through the circuit, leading to a reduction in the overall current.

    Consequently, increasing the resistance results in a decrease in the flow of electric charge (current) in the circuit.
