A widespread power outage caused a half-hour disruption to the show floor at CES on Tuesday, with attendees reporting that a backup battery system might have failed.

Just after 4 p.m., the lights went out and the floor became quiet at the Sands Expo, while people at some other venues experienced flickering lights. CES, billed as the world’s largest trade show for consumer technology, runs through Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center and at venues around the Strip.

Power was quickly restored to some areas. It took longer to return to the central part of the Sands, including where Nvidia held its CES news conference just 90 minutes earlier.
