    The mole fraction of a component in a mixture represents the proportion of that component relative to the entire mixture. Expressed as a ratio of moles, it is a fundamental measure of concentration in solution chemistry.

    Step 1: Determine the moles of the solute

    Use the equation: moles of solute = mass of solute / molecular mass of solute.

    Step 2: Determine the moles of the solvent

    Use the equation: moles of solvent = mass of solvent / molecular mass of solvent.

    Step 3: Calculate the mole fraction of the solute

    mole fraction of solute = moles of solute ÷ (moles of solute + moles of solvent).

    Step 4: Calculate the mole fraction of the solvent

    mole fraction of solvent = moles of solvent ÷ (moles of solute + moles of solvent).
