  • Fluorine-to-Aluminum Ratio in Aluminum Fluoride (AlF3)
Aluminum (Al) has a +3 charge when it forms an ion. Fluorine (F) has a -1 charge when it forms an ion. To create a neutral compound, we need three fluoride ions to balance the +3 charge of the aluminum ion.

Therefore, 3 atoms of fluorine will combine with 1 atom of aluminum to form the compound aluminum fluoride (AlF₃).
