  • Covalent Bonding of Hydrogen Atoms: Understanding H2 Formation
Hydrogen atoms bond to each other through a covalent bond.

    Here's why:

    * Covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms.

    * Hydrogen atoms each have one electron in their outermost shell.

    * By sharing their electrons, they both achieve a stable, full outermost shell (like Helium, which has 2 electrons).

This sharing creates a strong bond between the two hydrogen atoms, forming a hydrogen molecule (H2).
