  • Chloroform: Organic or Inorganic? Understanding its Classification
Chloroform (CHCl₃) is considered organic. Here's why:

    * Carbon Backbone: It contains carbon as the central atom, which is the defining characteristic of organic compounds.

    * Hydrogen Bonding: It also contains hydrogen atoms bonded to carbon.

    * Halogen Substitution: While it does contain chlorine, this is a substitution for hydrogen and doesn't change the fundamental organic nature of the molecule.

Inorganic compounds typically lack carbon (with a few exceptions like carbonates and cyanides).
