  • Deposition: Understanding the Process of Gas to Solid Conversion
The process of gas turning directly into a solid is called deposition.

This is the opposite of sublimation, where a solid turns directly into a gas.

Here are some examples of deposition:

    * Frost formation: Water vapor in the air deposits directly onto cold surfaces as ice crystals.

    * Snow formation: Water vapor in the atmosphere deposits directly onto ice crystals, forming snowflakes.

    * Dry ice: Solid carbon dioxide (CO2) deposits directly from the gaseous state at room temperature and pressure.
