  • Ocean State: Liquid or Something Else? - A Scientific Explanation
    The ocean is a liquid.

    Here's why:

    * Liquids take the shape of their container. The ocean fills the vast space of the ocean basins.

    * Solids have a fixed shape. The ocean doesn't have a fixed shape, it flows and moves.

    * Gases fill their container completely. While the ocean has a lot of dissolved gases, it doesn't behave like a gas in terms of filling a space.
