  • Density: Understanding Physical vs. Chemical Properties
    Density is a physical property.

    Here's why:

    * Physical properties can be observed or measured without changing the chemical composition of a substance.

    * Chemical properties describe how a substance reacts with other substances or how it changes its composition.

Density is simply the ratio of mass to volume. It can be measured without altering the substance itself. For example, you can measure the density of water by finding its mass and volume, and this measurement won't change the water into something else.
