  • Nitrogen's Family: Understanding the Pnictogens (Group 15)
Nitrogen is in the pnictogen family, also known as the nitrogen group or group 15 of the periodic table.

    Here's why:

    * Group 15: The pnictogens are in the 15th column of the periodic table.

    * Similar Properties: Elements within a group share similar chemical properties due to having the same number of valence electrons (electrons in the outermost shell). Nitrogen has 5 valence electrons, just like phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, and bismuth, the other members of the pnictogen family.
