  • Melting Point vs. Freezing Point: Understanding the Relationship
The melting point of a substance is the same as its freezing point.

    Here's why:

    * Melting: The process of a substance transitioning from a solid to a liquid state.

    * Freezing: The process of a substance transitioning from a liquid to a solid state.

These are essentially the same process, just happening in opposite directions. At the melting point/freezing point, the solid and liquid phases exist in equilibrium.
