  • Methanol Combustion: Products and Chemical Reaction
When you burn methanol (CH3OH), the primary products are carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).

The chemical equation for the combustion of methanol is:

    2 CH3OH + 3 O2 → 2 CO2 + 4 H2O

This reaction releases a significant amount of energy, which is why methanol is a useful fuel.

However, in incomplete combustion, which can occur if there is not enough oxygen present, you may also get some carbon monoxide (CO) as a byproduct.
