  • Understanding Steam: What is Water Vapor from Boiling?
The water vapor created when water boils is called steam.

    Here's why:

    * Water vapor is the gaseous state of water, which is always present in the atmosphere to some degree.

    * Steam is specifically the visible cloud of water vapor that forms when water boils. This happens because the water molecules gain enough energy to break free from the liquid state and become a gas. The steam condenses as it cools, forming tiny water droplets that we see as a cloud.
