  • Ozone Layer: Understanding the Stratosphere and Its Importance
    The zone rich in ozone gas is the stratosphere.

    Here's why:

    * Stratosphere: This layer of the atmosphere is located above the troposphere (where we live) and extends from about 10 to 50 kilometers above the Earth's surface. The stratosphere contains the ozone layer, a region with a high concentration of ozone (O3) gas. This ozone layer is crucial because it absorbs most of the Sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, protecting life on Earth.

    * Other Zones:

    * Troposphere: The lowest layer of the atmosphere where we live. It has very little ozone.

    * Mesosphere: The layer above the stratosphere, with very low ozone concentrations.

    * Thermosphere: The layer above the mesosphere, where the air is extremely thin, and ozone is present in very small amounts.

    * Exosphere: The outermost layer of the atmosphere, where ozone is virtually nonexistent.
