  • Soda Pyrex vs. Silica Glass: Which is More Affordable?
Soda-lime glass is the cheapest type of glass out of the three.

    * Soda-lime glass is the most common type of glass, used for everyday items like bottles, jars, and windowpanes. It's inexpensive to produce due to the abundance and low cost of its main ingredients: soda ash (sodium carbonate), limestone (calcium carbonate), and silica sand.

    * Pyrex is a type of borosilicate glass, known for its heat resistance and durability. It's more expensive than soda-lime glass due to the addition of boron oxide, which makes it more chemically resistant and able to withstand higher temperatures.

    * Silica glass (also known as fused silica) is the purest form of glass, made almost entirely of silicon dioxide. It's the most expensive type of glass because it's extremely difficult to manufacture and has very specific applications, primarily in scientific and industrial settings.

Therefore, soda-lime glass is the most economical choice due to its low production cost.
