  • Rock Properties: Understanding Solids, Liquids, and Gases
    Rock is a solid.

    Here's why:

    * Solids have a fixed shape and volume. Rocks maintain their shape and don't flow like liquids or expand to fill a container like gases.

    * Liquids have a fixed volume but take the shape of their container.

    * Gases have no fixed shape or volume and expand to fill their container.

While rocks can be broken down into smaller pieces, they are still solid materials.
