  • Chemical Change: Understanding How Milk Turns Sour
Sour milk is an example of a chemical change because the composition and properties of the milk change as a result of a chemical reaction. When milk is exposed to certain types of bacteria, these bacteria convert the lactose (a sugar found in milk) into lactic acid. This causes the milk to become sour and its pH to decrease, which changes the flavor, texture, and nutritional content of the milk.
