    * Sulfides: These compounds contain sulfur in the -2 oxidation state. Examples include hydrogen sulfide (H2S), sodium sulfide (Na2S), and iron sulfide (FeS).

    * Disulfides: These compounds contain sulfur in the -1 oxidation state. Examples include sulfur dioxide (SO2), sodium sulfite (Na2SO3), and calcium sulfite (CaSO3).

    * Thiosulfates: These compounds contain sulfur in the +2 oxidation state. Examples include sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) and potassium thiosulfate (K2S2O3).

    * Sulfates: These compounds contain sulfur in the +6 oxidation state. Examples include sulfuric acid (H2SO4), sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), and calcium sulfate (CaSO4).

    * Organic sulfur compounds: These compounds contain sulfur covalently bonded to carbon atoms. Examples include dimethyl sulfide ((CH3)2S), dimethyl sulfoxide ((CH3)2SO), and methanethiol (CH3SH).
