  • Potassium Chloride (KCl): Acid, Base, or Salt? Understanding Its Properties
Potassium Chloride (KCl) is a salt and not an acid or a base.

It is composed of positively charged potassium ions (K+) and negatively charged chloride ions (Cl-). When dissolved in water, these ions separate and become surrounded by water molecules, forming a solution that conducts electricity.

Acids, on the other hand, are substances that donate protons (H+) when dissolved in water, while bases are substances that accept protons (H+). Since KCl does not involve the transfer of protons, it is not classified as either an acid or a base.
