  • Ionic Bonding: Charge After Electron Acceptance (Sodium & Chlorine)
Sodium and chlorine can bond together through an ionic bond, formed by the transfer of electrons. When sodium atom gives one electron to chlorine atom, sodium becomes positively charged (Na+) and chlorine becomes negatively charged (Cl-). The charge after accepting the electron is -1, representing the negative charge of the chloride ion (Cl-).
