The equi-cohesive temperature is a temperature at which the tensile strength of a soil's bond or cementation is equal to the resistance to shear deformation along preferred planes or surfaces within the soil mass. This critical temperature divides temperature-dependent soil behavior into cohesion-dominant and friction-dominant regimes at constant effective normal stresses.
