The concentration of copper varies greatly depending on the geological context. In the Earth's crust, copper is relatively abundant, ranking 25th among all elements. Its average concentration is estimated to be around 68 parts per million (ppm). Some rocks, such as copper ores, can contain much higher concentrations of copper, up to several percent.
