  • Understanding Water Vaporization: H2O(l) + Heat → H2O(g)
The equation H2O(l) plus heat H2O(g) describes the process of vaporization, or the phase transition of water from a liquid to a gas. This occurs when liquid water is heated and reaches its boiling point, at which point the water molecules gain enough energy to overcome the intermolecular forces holding them together as a liquid and transition into a gaseous state. In other words, it describes the process through which water evaporates.
