  • Neon Bonding: Why Neon Remains a Gas - Chemistry Explained
Neon gas atoms do not bond to each other to form molecules under normal conditions. It is a noble gas, meaning its electron configuration renders it very stable and unlikely to react with other elements to form chemical compounds.

At extremely low temperatures near absolute zero, neon atoms can be coerced into forming a weakly bound solid structure, but in practical terms, neon gas remains monatomic.
