  • Why Dry HCl Doesn't Immediately Change Litmus Paper Color: An Explanation
Dry HCl gas does change the colour of litmus paper. It turns blue litmus paper red. However, if the litmus paper is perfectly dry, the reaction may be slow and the colour change might not be immediately visible. This is because water is required for the acid to dissociate into hydrogen ions, which are responsible for the colour change.
