  • Understanding the Normality of Concentrated Sulfuric Acid
Concentrated sulfuric acid typically has a concentration of approximately 18.4 M (molar). Its normality, however, depends on the number of hydrogen ions it can release when dissolved in water. Sulfuric acid ionizes into two hydrogen ions (H+) and one sulfate ion (SO4 2-). Since sulfuric acid donates two hydrogen ions, its normality is twice its molarity.

    Therefore, the normality of concentrated sulfuric acid is approximately 2 * 18.4 M = 36.8 N.
