  • Natural Gas and Acid Rain: Understanding the Connection
Natural gas combustion primarily emits carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and some trace amounts of sulfur dioxide (SO2). While NOx can contribute to the formation of acid rain, the SO2 emissions from natural gas are significantly lower compared to coal or oil combustion. Hence, natural gas is generally considered a cleaner fuel with respect to acid rain formation.
