  • Rubidium and Oxygen Bond: Understanding Ionic Bonding
The bond between rubidium and oxygen is an ionic bond. In an ionic bond, one atom donates electrons to another atom, creating oppositely charged ions that attract each other. In the case of rubidium and oxygen, rubidium donates its one valence electron to oxygen, resulting in the formation of Rb+ and O2- ions. These ions then attract each other to form an ionic compound, rubidium oxide (Rb2O).
