  • Precipitation Reaction: Ag2CO3 Formation from AgNO3 and K2CO3
    Ag2CO3 is the precipitate.

When aqueous solutions of AgNO3 and K2CO3 are mixed, a double-replacement reaction occurs, resulting in the formation of Ag2CO3 as a precipitate and KNO3 as a soluble product.

The balanced chemical equation for this reaction is:

    2AgNO3(aq) + K2CO3(aq) → Ag2CO3(s) + 2KNO3(aq)

In this reaction, the silver ions (Ag+) from AgNO3 combine with the carbonate ions (CO3^2-) from K2CO3 to form insoluble silver carbonate (Ag2CO3). The potassium ions (K+) and nitrate ions (NO3-) from the reactants remain in solution as potassium nitrate (KNO3).
