  • Tap Water: Homogeneous or Heterogeneous? Understanding Water Composition
Tap water is a heterogeneous mixture.

A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that is not uniform throughout. It contains two or more substances that are not evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Tap water is a heterogeneous mixture because it contains dissolved minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, and sodium, as well as suspended particles, such as dirt, sand, and bacteria.
