  • Lysosome Distribution: Where are They Most Abundant in the Body?
Lysosomes are found abundantly in cells that are actively involved in phagocytosis, such as:

    * White blood cells (leukocytes): These cells engulf and destroy invading pathogens like bacteria and viruses.

    * Macrophages: These specialized cells are responsible for cleaning up cellular debris and pathogens.

    * Neutrophils: These are another type of white blood cell involved in fighting infections.

Other cells with high lysosome concentration:

    * Liver cells: These cells are responsible for detoxification and breaking down waste products.

    * Kidney cells: These cells filter waste products from the blood.

Lysosomes are also found in all eukaryotic cells but in lower concentrations than in the cells mentioned above.
