  • Gymnosperm Cones: Understanding the Seed-Bearing Structure
The seed-bearing structure of a gymnosperm is called a cone.

There are two types of cones:

    * Male cones produce pollen, which carries the male gametes.

    * Female cones contain the ovules, which will develop into seeds after fertilization.

While the term "cone" is most commonly associated with the female reproductive structure, it's important to remember that both male and female cones play vital roles in the gymnosperm reproductive process.
