  • Understanding the Endomembrane System: Ribosomes, ER & Golgi
Ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi are all parts of the cell called the endomembrane system.

This system is a group of organelles that work together to:

    * Synthesize and modify proteins and lipids: Ribosomes build proteins, the endoplasmic reticulum helps fold and modify them, and the Golgi further processes and packages them.

    * Transport materials within the cell: The endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi act as a sort of highway for molecules to move around the cell.

    * Detoxify harmful substances: Some parts of the endoplasmic reticulum play a role in breaking down toxins.

The endomembrane system is a vital part of eukaryotic cells and plays a crucial role in many cellular processes.
