  • Structural Genes: The Blueprint for Cellular Proteins
Genes that tell the cell to make other molecules are called structural genes.

    Here's why:

    * Structural genes contain the genetic code that dictates the amino acid sequence of a protein. Proteins are the workhorses of the cell, carrying out a wide range of functions.

    * These proteins can be enzymes, which catalyze chemical reactions, or they can have structural roles like forming the cytoskeleton or making up cell membranes.

In other words, structural genes provide the blueprint for building the molecules that perform essential tasks within the cell.
