  • Mitosis: Which Cells Use This Essential Cell Division Process?
Mitosis is the process of cell division that produces two identical daughter cells from a single parent cell. It's used by a wide variety of cells in your body, including:

    * Somatic cells: These are all the cells in your body that aren't sex cells (sperm and egg). This includes muscle cells, skin cells, blood cells, nerve cells, and many more.

    * Stem cells: These cells have the ability to differentiate into various types of cells and are responsible for growth and repair.

    * Embryonic cells: In the early stages of development, mitosis is crucial for creating a multicellular organism from a single fertilized egg.

    Mitosis is NOT used by:

    * Gametes (sex cells): These cells use meiosis, a different type of cell division that produces haploid cells (with half the number of chromosomes).

Let me know if you'd like to know more about the process of mitosis itself!
