  • Prokaryotes vs. Eukaryotes: Shared Characteristics Explained
Here are three ways prokaryotes and eukaryotes are the same:

    1. Both have DNA as their genetic material: Both prokaryotes and eukaryotes store their genetic information in the form of DNA. This DNA is used to create proteins, which carry out the functions of the cell.

    2. Both have ribosomes for protein synthesis: Ribosomes are the cellular machinery responsible for building proteins from the instructions encoded in DNA. Both prokaryotes and eukaryotes have ribosomes, although their structures are slightly different.

    3. Both require energy to function: All living organisms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes alike, need a constant supply of energy to survive and carry out life processes. They obtain this energy through various metabolic pathways, such as respiration or photosynthesis.
