  • Pea Plant Genotypes: Understanding Homozygous & Heterozygous Tallness
    Here's how to determine the genotypes of tall pea plants:

    * Tallness in pea plants is a dominant trait. This means that if a plant has even one copy of the tall allele (represented by "T"), it will be tall.

    * Homozygous: Means having two identical alleles for a trait.

    * Homozygous tall: TT

    * Heterozygous: Means having two different alleles for a trait.

    * Heterozygous tall: Tt

    Important Note: There is also a recessive allele for shortness (represented by "t"). A pea plant would only be short if it had two copies of the recessive "t" allele (tt).
