  • Plant vs. Animal Cells: Understanding the Cell Wall
The structure found in a plant cell but absent in an animal cell is a cell wall.

    Here's why:

    * Cell Wall: This rigid outer layer provides structural support and protection for the plant cell. It's made primarily of cellulose, a complex carbohydrate. Animal cells don't need this rigid structure because they have a flexible cell membrane.

    * Other Plant Cell Structures: Plant cells also have chloroplasts (for photosynthesis), a large central vacuole (for storage and support), and plasmodesmata (for cell-to-cell communication), which are not found in animal cells.
