  • Understanding DNA's Building Blocks: Nucleotides Explained
    The individual units in DNA are called nucleotides.

    Each nucleotide consists of three parts:

    * A sugar molecule (deoxyribose)

    * A phosphate group

    * A nitrogenous base (adenine, guanine, cytosine, or thymine)

    The sequence of these nucleotides along a DNA strand determines the genetic information it carries.
