  • Photoautotrophs: Organisms That Create Food From Light
Organisms that use light to make food are called photoautotrophs. The most well-known example is plants, but there are many others, including:

    * Algae: These are single-celled or multicellular organisms that live in water and are a key part of the food chain.

    * Cyanobacteria: These are bacteria that produce oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis.

    * Certain bacteria: Some bacteria, such as purple sulfur bacteria, use light energy to produce food.

These organisms all use a process called photosynthesis, where they capture light energy and convert it into chemical energy stored in the form of sugars. They use this energy to grow and reproduce.
