Here's why:
* All living things share a common ancestor. Life on Earth evolved from a single, ancient ancestor, and we all carry traces of this shared lineage in our DNA.
* DNA is the code for life. It contains instructions for building and maintaining organisms. Some of these instructions are essential for all life, and thus are found in both dandelions and humans.
* However, the amount of shared DNA is very small. Dandelions are plants, and humans are mammals. We have evolved independently for millions of years, leading to vast differences in our DNA.
Think of it this way: We share some DNA with a banana, too! But the amount of DNA we share with a banana is much less than what we share with a chimpanzee, which is our closest living relative.
So, while dandelions and humans share some DNA, we are very different organisms with vastly different genetic makeup.
