  • Protista Kingdom: Single-Cell Organisms in Water & Animals - Definition & Examples
The kingdom that contains single-celled organisms that are found in watery environments or inside the body of animals is Protista.

    Here's why:

    * Protists are a diverse group of eukaryotic organisms that are not classified as animals, plants, or fungi. They include a wide variety of single-celled organisms, as well as some multicellular forms.

    * Watery Environments: Many protists are found in freshwater, saltwater, and soil. Examples include algae, amoebas, and paramecia.

    * Inside the Body of Animals: Some protists are parasites, meaning they live inside the bodies of animals and obtain nutrients from their host. Examples include malaria-causing plasmodium and giardia, which can cause intestinal illness.

While bacteria are also single-celled organisms, they are prokaryotes (lacking a nucleus) and belong to the kingdom Bacteria.
