  • Eukaryotic Cells: Structure, Organelles, and Examples
    Cells with membrane-enclosed organelles are called eukaryotic cells.

    Here are some examples of eukaryotic cells:

    * Animal cells

    * Plant cells

    * Fungal cells

    * Protist cells

    These cells have a variety of membrane-bound organelles that perform specific functions, such as:

    * Nucleus: Contains the cell's genetic material (DNA)

    * Mitochondria: Produce energy (ATP) through cellular respiration

    * Endoplasmic reticulum (ER): Synthesizes proteins and lipids

    * Golgi apparatus: Processes and packages proteins

    * Lysosomes: Break down waste materials

    * Vacuoles: Store water and other materials

    * Chloroplasts (in plant cells): Carry out photosynthesis

    * Peroxisomes: Detoxify harmful substances

    In contrast, prokaryotic cells (like bacteria and archaea) lack these membrane-enclosed organelles. Their DNA is located in a region called the nucleoid, and they have fewer internal compartments.
