  • Understanding Biological Populations: Definition & Examples
The members of a particular species that live in one area are called a population.

    Here's why:

    * Species: A group of organisms that can interbreed and produce fertile offspring.

    * Population: A group of individuals of the same species living in the same area at the same time.

For example, all the squirrels living in Central Park would be considered a population of squirrels.
